February Queer Book Club Pick

About: "Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can't remember exactly when the feeling took root—that desire to look, to move closer, to touch. Whenever it started growing, it definitely bloomed the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club. Suddenly everything seemed possible. But America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love, especially not in Chinatown. Red-Scare paranoia threatens everyone, including Chinese Americans like Lily. With deportation looming over her father—despite his hard-won citizenship—Lily and Kath risk everything to let their love see the light of day." -Provided by Publisher

What is Queer Book Club?

The Queer Book Club was formed as a collaborative effort between the University Libraries and the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC). This inclusive and welcoming space is dedicated to exploring the diverse narratives within the LGBTQ+ spectrum through the lens of literature. Join us monthly for engaging discussions, thoughtful reflections, and an opportunity to connect with fellow book enthusiasts who share a passion for queer literature. Whether you're a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally seeking to broaden your perspectives, our Queer Book Club provides a platform to explore and celebrate the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ experiences.
