Join the University Libraries for our very first Movie Night in Minerva of the fall semester! We’re kicking things off with After Yang (2021), a visually stunning and deeply thoughtful sci-fi film directed by Kogonada and featuring one of the final haunting scores by legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. Based on Alexander Weinstein’s short story Saying Goodbye to Yang, this movie invites you to reflect on love, memory, and what it truly means to be human.

When his young daughter’s beloved A.I. companion suddenly malfunctions, Jake (played by Colin Farrell) discovers a hidden archive of Yang’s recorded memories. As he explores these moments, he begins to unravel unexpected truths about his own family, relationships, and what it means to live a meaningful life.
