Summer of Horror Virtual Book Club: Edenville Online

Ready to spend your summer wandering into a town where something feels deeply, terribly wrong? Join us this June as we read Edenville by Sam Rebelein, a haunting horror novel steeped in creeping dread, disturbing folklore, and the quiet terror of places that refuse to let their secrets stay buried. As reality begins to fracture and strange happenings spiral out of control, Edenville pulls readers into a nightmare where every discovery only deepens the unease.

Here’s how it works:
Hop into our Summer of Horror Book Club Discord to discuss the book throughout the month, connect with fellow horror readers, and share theories as the mysteries of Edenville unfold. Then join us on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:30 pm EST for a live virtual discussion where we’ll dig into the novel’s unsettling imagery, themes, and most horrifying moments. At 7:00 pm EST, we’ll be joined by author Sam Rebelein for a live Q&A.

Whether you’re a longtime horror fan or looking to venture into darker fiction for the first time, Edenville is the perfect way to kick off a summer of horror.

About the Book: "After publishing his debut novel, The Shattered Man, to disappointing sales and reviews, Campbell P. Marion is struggling to find inspiration for a follow-up. When Edenville College invites him to join as a writer-in-residence, he’s convinced that his bad luck has finally taken a turn. His girlfriend Quinn isn’t so sure—she grew up near Edenville and has good reasons for not wanting to move back. Cam disregards her skepticism and accepts the job, with Quinn reluctantly following along. But there’s something wrong in the haunted college town of Edenville. Despite the charming old ladies milling about Main Street and picturesque sunflowers dotting the sidewalks, poison lurks beneath the surface. As a series of strange and ominous events escalate among Edenville and its residents, Cam and Quinn find themselves entangled in a dark and disturbing history steeped in cosmic horror." - Provided by Publisher

Summer of Horror Book Club: The Summer of Horror Book Club is your chance to stay connected, curious, and just a little creeped out, no matter where summer takes you. Whether you're still in Albany, back home, or traveling, our virtual book club brings together students, faculty, staff, and library friends for shared reading, thoughtful discussion, and the joy of community. All you need is a good internet connection, a love of books, and maybe a nightlight. Why horror? It’s the perfect genre for summer reading - thrilling, fast-paced, and packed with tension. Horror helps us explore fear, anxiety, and the unknown in a safe (and often wildly entertaining) way. Plus, there’s nothing like reading a chilling story with the lights off and the fan on during a hot summer night. This isn’t just a reading group, it’s a place to connect across time zones, swap theories, and dive deep into stories that make your heart race. Each book is paired with virtual discussions, and we're even inviting the authors to join us live! So grab your copy, join the Discord, and prepare to scream (and think) a little this summer.
