What Gets Lost?: A Banned Books Collage

Event box

Promotional graphic for “What Gets Lost? A Banned Books Collage.” A collage of challenged book covers, including The Dog Knight, Gender Queer, and Last Night at the Telegraph Club, is partially obscured by black censorship-style bars. Torn-paper images, figures, punctuation marks, and the word “courage” are layered throughout the design, evoking censorship, erasure, and resistance.
What Gets Lost?: A Banned Books Collage In-Person

What gets lost when a book is censored?

Drop in and create your own collage using images from frequently challenged and banned books. Cut, layer, remix, redact, and reimagine book covers using collage materials, black censorship bars, and your own words and artwork. Your finished piece can celebrate a book, respond to censorship, or explore what disappears when stories, voices, and ideas are removed from shelves.

No artistic experience needed—all materials will be provided. Come make something, discover challenged books, and celebrate the freedom to read.
